The Fictional Town Depicted in the San Gabriel
Cozy Mystery Series by Lourdes Welhaven.
San Gabriel – A Secret Tropical Playground
Located in the heart of Florida’s Treasure Coast lies beautiful San Gabriel. This town boasts more billionaires than Palm Beach, New York, and Los Angeles combined. But you won’t see the residents flaunting their wealth here. Instead, privacy and discretion are paramount.
The residents of San Gabriel have made it a priority to ensure that pets are as loved and welcome here as people.
Most businesses in San Gabriel encourage pet parents to bring their furry children with them.
The San Gabriel Animal Shelter is fully funded through private donations and is a 100% no-kill shelter.
But the commitment to animals goes beyond a love for pets in San Gabriel. We have laws to protect sea turtles, dolphins, manatees, Florida panthers, foxes, and more.
If you love animals, you’ll fit right in.
The San Gabriel business community is close-knit, diverse, and vibrant. We are proud of our beaches, intracoastal waterways, and parks. We love our temperate weather with mild winters and summers cooled by the ocean’s breeze. We’re lucky to be able to soak in the sun year-round. Our history keeps us grounded while our commitment to local artists, charities, and fellow entrepreneurs keep us moving towards our collective future. Get to know some of our key businesses and special places around town. You’ll always meet a friendly face in San Gabriel.
San Gabriel’s premier pet grooming salon. Jessica Tanner founded the salon with one goal in mind, to paper pets and their parents.
We bake fresh on the premises every morning. Come in for your favorite breads, cakes, scones, cookies, and more.

This website is based on the fictitious town of San Gabriel, Florida as detailed in the San Gabriel Cozy Mystery Series by Lourdes Welhaven. Check out the novels. Make sure to come back between book releases to keep informed about everything going on in San Gabriel. There might even be a clue (or two) on this website about a future book – hint, hint.
“I found myself at the beach on a beautiful balmy night, standing next to a hot guy, while I was holding a cute dog. Sounds like a great evening, doesn’t it? Think about it — a beach, a Bichon Frise, and a handsome man at my side — but unfortunately, there was also a dead body.”
Jessica Tanner the owner of a luxury dog grooming salon in a posh seaside town is woken in the middle of the night to help the police. There’s a dog on the beach with her high-end grooming salon’s logo on its collar. The dog is safe and well. The man who the dog was sitting next to, on the other hand, is dead. The police don’t know who the dead person is and they hope that if Jessica identifies the dog, they’ll get some answers.
Murders don’t happen in pristine San Gabriel. This playground for the very rich, located on Florida’s Treasure Coast, is supposed to be idyllic. Worse yet, it seems the murder could threaten Jessica – both her livelihood and her life are in jeopardy.
Jessica Tanner, a reluctant amateur sleuth, is determined to find the answers before she loses everything she’s worked so hard for. Of course, she’s doing so while grooming dogs, attending to eccentric pet parents, and dancing in a local charity dance competition.
If you love dogs, a touch of romance, quirky characters, and a feisty female sleuth, you’ll want to unravel this cozy mystery along with Jessica. A Beach, A Bichon Frise and A Body will keep you guessing until the killer is finally revealed.
